PCOS & ME

by maia83, Jun 18, 2008 12:01PM
Hi my name is Laura I started with Metformin 3 weeks ago. 1st week 1 500mg at bedtime and after the 2nd week 500 mg @ bedtime & 500 AM….
Yes worst side effect, diarrhea & I feel sleepy.
I used to take this med 1 yr ago, & after a paraloscopy to remove a cyst my gyn decided to put me on Clomid…..
I’m trying to conceive……. After o luck with clomid… We change back to Metformin…
I don’t ovulate on my own, so she recommended to take my body back to normal, & then start clomid again…. I have more than 1 ½ yrs trying to have a baby… & no luck…….
For me is like start from scratch once again….. We’ll see if I get my period next month… & how long will take me to get pregnant…
Yes I’m overweight

254lb   5’4”

Any luck getting pregnant with metformin,,,, how much longer I have to wait????

The Metformin is what the doctors prescribed to me as well.. I never tried it because im always afraid of side affects. I know they told me to only eat certain foods with this medication . Chicken and fish and veggies plus working out.. they said it is suppose to help with the weight and if any acne.. well i dont have a menstrual cycle either. for about 5 years now.

good luck

I also have problems ovulating. I have been on metformin for 4 months and just finished my 3rd cycle of clomid. No luck for me with either, they told me that neither of them made me ovulate. It is so frustrating, I know! I am going to see a new dr, my current one referred me to an RE. Just hang in there, I know how hard it is. Yes, I am also overweight and they did tell me that a lot of people lose weight while on metformin, but I haven't, I feel like I've gained. Also have you tried OPK or BBT? That might help to see if you are ovulating.
