it may come back with or without it, and not with or without it, but it's probably a higher risk if you don't do radiation after your oncologist recommended it. So, is it needed? i don't know how to answer that one.
How are you doing?
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recommends postmastectomy radiation treatment for patients with 4 or more positive axillary lymph nodes and when the tumor is stage III (except T3N0M0). The summary of the guidelines can be found in this internet link: http://jco.ascopubs.org/cgi/reprint/19/5/1539.pdf.
Tamoxifen can still be given after you have undergone postmastectomy radiation treatment.
You need to discuss your treatment plan with your oncologist.
Good luck.
