Pain in neck, left shoulder, left hand and arm

by shardoll, Jun 18, 2008 05:58PM
Hello,

I'm 62 female. Since over a year i'm having shooting pain in neck , left shoulder, left hand and arm (my right side of hand has no pain). The pain start if i move, lift small objects thru my left hand. Doctors visits and exams refers to chiropractic treatment and massages. But, after trying many times they gave temp relif but the pain comes back again.
The x-ray looks good. Is it some thing to do with some nerve damage (or) bone wiere out at the shoulder? If so, what exam would identify any nerve waire out? (or) is it possible that having small stones in galbladder would cause this pain?

Please advise!!

Thank you!!

Dear,
You should consult a neurologist as the shooting pain seems to have a neurological cause. You should get a MRI of the spine done to know if any degenerative changes or pathology exists. Also nerve conduction studies should be done. You can take vitamin B supplements to prevent demyleination of nerves. Gall stones usually cause pain in the right side,.Do you have other symptoms of gall stone like nausea ,vomiting? Most  of your symptoms relate to the nervous system,so get the investigstions done.
