Pills In The Bottle

by Hopefalls, Jun 28, 2007 12:00AM
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. Havn't really posted my story yet.  I'm a song writer, mostly country as of late. I've been addicted to Pain killers for about 6 years now. I've been reading everyones posts on here for a couple weeks now and while reading tonight inspired to write this song. And I'd like to post the lyrics here for you. So anyone who cares, here goes.

Staring down the devil, in the palm of my hand.
The way he makes me feel, you just wouldn't understand.
Theres an empty orange bottle, where he used to live.
but now he's down inside of me, well I guess my soul is his.

*Its far to late to turn back, once that taste is in your mouth.
And the thing that really scares me, is having to go without.
Its not to hard to swallow, but you can't get it back.
They may not add up to what I got,or make up for what I lack.

Chorus) Well I'm lonesome and I'm driftin,I Havn't got a home.
I havn't found a reason, to stop rolling like a stone.
I still listen for the voices,to say what I have known.
Leave those pills in the bottle, leave that devil alone.

Its the love of my life, dressed up all in white.
No this ain't my wedding, its a double dose tonight.
I'm two different people, one with drugs and one withdrawls.
And I'd burn any bridge to get them, when the pain starts to call.

*I've forgot who I was, before I turned into who I am.
Only looking for that next fix, and that feelin once again.
Well my life is not my own,its trapped inside a pill
Someday I'm gonna take it back, I swear to god I will.

Chorus) Well I'm lonesome and I'm driftin,I Havn't got a home.
I havn't found a reason, to stop rolling like a stone.
I still listen for the voices, to say what I've known.
Leave those pills in the bottle, leave that devil alone.

OMG - YOU ARE TRULY TALENTED!  I am sure with your profession you must feel the need to stay anonymous on this site - but I'll bet you are someone famous - wish we knew what songs you had written.  Anyway, that song I am sure probably speaks to everyone on this forum - one thing is for sure, whoever wrote it has a history of problems with pills - because you got it exactly right.  So, where are you currently in the battle with your addiction?  Having any luck?  So glad you decided to join us, I am trying to get up the nerve to start on Suboxone myself.  Thanks again for the song - nice to know we are not alone in this, huh?

Love, Cindy

WOW, that song says it all. I love songs about addiction, lets me know that I'm not alone even though we feel that way sometimes. You are very talented, I would love to hear it one day. Best of luck.
