Spironolactone side effects?

I was prescribed 50mg twice daily of Spironolactone. I read that it causes tumors in rats (not something I want to hear!) Anyway, I was wondering if any people have had many of the side effects (nausea, dizziness, etc.) I have some unwanted hair on my chin and I want it to help. I'm definitely going to fork over some money for electrolysis if it doesn't work. Also, anyone lose any weight by taking it?
