High Antibodies-- Help!

by kmccoy, Jun 19, 2008 09:55PM
Hello, I'm 22, and I was just diagnosed with thyroiditis (hypo).  I was wondering if anyone could help explain the test results to me.  I'm worried because of how high the antibodies are:

TSH:  Result 4.8,  Ref Range 0.3-4.2

Thyroglubulin AB:  Result >3000,  Ref Range <20
Thyroid Peroxidase AB:  Result 646,  Ref Range <35

I was put on synthroid, has anyone had this before?

I also have rheumatoid arthritis, and I was wondering if anyone knew if they were somehow related, or if it could have caused this.

Any advice you could give me would be great, thanks!

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Hashimoto's Disease are both autoimmune and are sometimes found together.

In fact, TPOab (646) is indicative of either condition and found in both. The TGab (3,000!) along with TPOab confirms Hashimoto's.

My advice is to read up about Hashimoto's, and read about test info in threads here.
