VBAC

by Crystal125, Jun 20, 2008 04:38PM
I was wondering if anyone has had a VBAC after an inverted c-section. I had my first baby naturally, my second she came too early and was breached, because she weighed less than 2lbs they found it easier to do an inverted c-section (cut up and down on the uterus instead of horizontally). I really don't want to have another c-section but my doctor said that I have to, yet I read that lots of women have vbacs? I'm just not quite sure if it's just because my c-section was inverted =/.

T-shaped, inverted T-shaped or J-shaped incision. These incisions are used only in emergencies or when problems develop. They're not planned. If you have any of these scars, VBAC isn't an option. The risk of uterine rupture is too great.

Nevermind =(, I found a link that answered my own question. Darn it.. I really don't want another c-section.. Mainly because I have horrible panic attacks now, I didn't have an anxiety problem at the time of my last pregnancy (just started the past year). So I'm terrified I'll freak out. Is there a possibility they'll put me to sleep?

its possible to be put to sleep. im having a VBAC this time but i had a bikini line cut so maybe thats the difference. i too have panic attacks and was dreading id have another c section 4 the same reason. dont like thinking i wouldnt be able to get away if i had too. goodluck with everything and mention your anxiety to your dr to see what your options are...

with my first child i had an emergency c-section as she was breach she weighed 9lb 3oz.
8 years later i had another baby this time i had the choice VBAC or c-section but only if there were no problems during the pregnancy was the VBAC an option i decided to have a VBAC i wouldnt have missed it for the world        the doc did warn me of the risk of scar rupture so i wasnt allowed to be induced i ended up 6 days over due but it was worth the wait a girl weighing 8lb 10oz she is now 2

Yeah I asked my doctor about it once, if I could have a vbac and she said no. I have a low bikini cut on the outside, but the inside I have an inverted T shape cut, so I think my options of having a vbac are out the window. Now I hope they'll just put me to sleep because I honestly don't think I could handle it awake. I did it awake with Alexia, but I didn't have panic attacks then...

Crystal, you never know, they may be able to give you something to calm you down and prevent panic attacks. (valium anyone?) if your full term the only thing they'll have to deal with babywise is a sleepy baby... that's all, they'll keep a close eye on the baby for a few hrs. but otherwise, some places it's an option. (my dentist used to give me Valium before big appointments because I'd get anxious, and then the shots didn't work well enought)

at the antenatal class we just attended they said this is pretty much a no go zone for your safety due to potential and increased risk of rupture.
a vbac is relatively common now though with a normal c-section. on the other hand though my mum had 4x c-sections from 1982 - 1997 and had no other choice but to have all c-sections for safety.

id do some research on it but from what ive read no doctor wll do it.
sorry and best of luck... xx

Well the thing is I wont be delivered full term. My doctor already talked with me about doing the c-section as soon as the baby's lungs are developed enough to not have many complications. So I'm not sure if they'll give me anything at all.
