CHRONIC BACK PAIN/FEMUR INJURY

by davidtunes, Jun 21, 2008 08:10PM
I have had lower (lumbar) back pain for approximately 11 years.  I have received numerous hours of p.t., injections, massage therapy, and chiropractic care, to no avail.  To make matters worse, I had a dirtbike accident in 2003 which resulted in my fracturing my right femur.  I now have a permanent pin and screws holding me together.  I have been told that I have degenerative disk disease, pinching my sciatic nerve, causing the pain.  Chiropractic manipulation has been the most successful of all treatments, but very minimal, at best.  I have also been told my piriformis muscle is pinching my sciatic, causing the pain.  What I do not have, which is commonly associated with either diagnosis, is radiating pain down the back of my leg (sciatic nerve), and numbness in my leg down to my foot.  None of that exists in my case.  My pain is localized to my lumbar area down through the central part of my right buttock, and ending about mid-butt.  I wonder if there is any other potential cause for my pain and if my particular pain is common?  If so, what are the best treatments?

Please allow me to thank you in advance for your response to my post.
