Prostatitis and Mouth Disease

by lukas411, Jun 22, 2008 02:04AM
Could there be a link between Prostatitis and Gingivitis or the bacteria Streptococcus Mutan ?
I have had two bouts of Prostatitis, each one lasting over three months.
They both emerged the night after recieving oral sex.
I was tested for gonorrhea and clamidia and tested negative.
Can Strepto Mutan survive in the urinary tract or the prostate ?
When they test for bacteria using a "pee in a bottle cup" method would it come up or do they have to try and culture certain kinds?

Please send reply to ***@**** if possible. Thanks.

How are you? Prostatitis is not contagious and is not a sexually transmitted disease. The most common cause of prostatitis are: bacteria from your large intestines or bladder, heavy lifting, physical activity, interstitial cystitis, pelvic muscle spasm, or structural abnormality in the urinary tract. You can read more about this through this link: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/prostatitis/DS00341/DSECTION=causes

Diagnosing prostatitis involves ruling out any other conditions that may be causing your signs and symptoms and then determining what kind of prostatitis you have.
Digital Rectal Exam as well as urine and semen teats may be done for the diagnosis of prostatitis.

I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted.
