Symptoms following left and right coronary cath

by BananaPooh, Jun 22, 2008 09:03PM
I had what was supposed to be a heart cath left side 5 days ago.  Toward the end of the procedure I had excrutiating pain on the right side of my chest and cried out.  The doctor told me afterwards that it had started out being a left side and turned into a right sided cath, that I had mild to moderate build-up, and that I had pulmonary hypertension, probably due to my weight.  I believe the pain on the right side was because a student was doing the procedure and made a wrong turn.  But otherwise I would not know about the PH.

I am a 62 year old female, obese (5'5" 270 pounds), alcoholic sober 7 years, long time smoker quit 2 years,  I have OSA, treated with BPAP, PLM and RLS treated with Mirapex.  Hypertension, cholesterol, AI, OA.  Have been getting more and more confused over the past two years.  Procedure was ordered because I thought I had a TIA.  No evidence found on MRI of my head, but there was beading on my brain.

Since the heart cath I have been weaker and more fatigued than ever before, edema worse than ever, even in my toes, red spots and itching.  I have started to have reflux every time I eat.  I get short of breath if I stand more than 5 minutes, get dizzy and have to nap 2-3 times a day.  Also a cough and nasal congestion that wasn't so bothersome before.

Could anything have been accidentally done during the heart cath to cause such an increase in symptoms?
