Child with sudden vertigo

by sullymom, Jun 23, 2008 12:02PM
My 3yo is healthy with no known health problems.  Six months ago she started having "room spinning" episodes.  She will be going around doing normal stuff (playing, eating, reading a book), all the sudden she will start screaming that the room is spinning.  She will try and make her way to me and will stagger like a drunk person.  Her speech is normal, her pupils are fine, and she is in her right mind.  It will last 30seconds to a minute and then it will go away.  She has no lasting effects from it.

She has been seeing a chiropractor since birth for preventive care and he has no idea what may be causing this.

She does sometimes say her back (in the small of it) hurts, but the chiro can't find anything wrong.

Where do I go from here?

I'd take her to a neurologist AND an endocrinologist. My daughter (even as a preschooler) also used to get dizzy and complain of muscle and joint pain... especially in her back. In her case, she did have some neuroendocrine problems.
