Medical mystery or simple DX?

by JasonAC, Jun 23, 2008 01:24PM
I am 35 years old and have been having the same type of stomach problem for at least 5 years.  The symptoms are as follows:  Constipation/Diarhea but when I do have a bowel movements they are very thin stools and seem to stick to the toilet.  I will make several trips to the bathroom in the morning...just trying to empty out.  I have pain in my lower left abdomen AND lower left back.  It seems like I have gas that is trapped in my stomach and travels to my back.  It sounds weird but that is how it feels.  If i push into my stomach in the location of the pain, it seems to make it feel a little better.  On some occasions where my stomach is hurting badly my left eye (and it's always my left) will be bloodshot.  The past few months my stomach/back condition has worsened so much that now when I have a flare up, it will cause my body to be stooped/hunched over.  When I do have a flare up it lasts anywhere from 2-5 days, getting worse each time as far as pain goes.  This is very frustrating and it seems like the Doctors are puzzled and have not heard of such a thing.  I have had two bloodtests, both normal.  I have had a urinalysis, ct scan w/and w/out contrast & an XRAY.  Everything was normal.  THe only thing the Xray showed was that I had gas trapped in my belly but nothing major.  Also, the scan showed that I had a fatty liver BUT that is normal per the RN.  In late 2004, I did have a colonoscopy but it showed everything was normal.  the next test after that was to test to see if I was Fructose intolerant which showed a very very low level but nothing to explain my problem.  Please help!!

Also...it doesn't seem to be food related b/c I have cut out all milk products and even sugary foods and that doesn't seem to help or make it worse.  Ice and Heat have not helped either.  I have been taking Phyzime which does seem to help w/my "trapped" gas but the pain is still there and getting worse by the day.

Try the Digestive Advantage products, they have one for IBS and GAS.  I use this and it's done wonders for me.

When I went to my Gastro Doctor he studied my ct scan and xray and asked me about my bone spurs which I had no idea what he was talking about.  Turns out that the ER doc had no idea what he was talking about and does not know how to read an xray.  Not only do I have bone spurs but an ileus.  And on top of that my back Dr who I was referred to b/c of the bone spurs....informed me about the ileus.  I am worried that these Doctors are missing something huge...they already have!  I had an MRI yesterday and now by looking at it and comparing it to other Spine MRI's online..it appears that I have a herniated disc.... (on top of the back spurs and ileus)  I have to wait until July 10th to go back to my Back Doctor...  I'm a mess!!  IBS, Ileus, degenerative arthritis, back spurs AND possibly a herniated disc!

I am on levsid and mucilex...it's helping a little w/the gas

Does anyone know if there's a place I can post the Ctscan and xray online?  i have it on a disc that the hospital gave me.

thanks
