Recommend Brain Stem Stroke Inpatient Rehab?

by ellariasand, Jun 23, 2008 04:23PM
My 33-year old husband had a brain stem stroke in Dec. 07. He is still in inpatient rehab. in FL but they have done all they can for him.  He can talk most of the time, can move his head, and some movement in fingers, wrists and toes.  I am looking for the BEST inpatient rehab in the COUNTRY for brain stem stroke to help him recover even more.  Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  I have been all over the web, and can find lists of best rehabs, lists of stroke rehabs but nothing specifically for brain stem stroke.  Any suggestions?  Also, does anyone know why fingers and toes would come back first? I have always heard they would be last? Thank you very much.  Good luck to all dealing with this difficult situation.

Hi, hope your husband is doing better.  My stroke was on the right side, therefore my left side has been affected. As far as why your husband's fingers and toes are coming back  first. I've been told by numerous therapists that the larger muscles come back first.  Sorry I can't answer your question. I hope you find  a rehab that can help your husband.
