What health problems can an infection gum or wisdom tooth cause?

A little over 2 years ago my wisdom tooth got infected and they told me it was a little impacted. I couldn't afford to get it out, and every since then it has seemed like my health has gone down hill tramendously. I have been checked out by doctors and no one has an explanation for it. Since everything started right after my wisdom tooth swelled, i'm assuming it has to do with it. My wisdom tooth hasnt swelled up again but I feel it throb every now and then, i would just really like to know all or if any health effects dental infections has.....
