Shoulder squeeking

by ansky, Jun 24, 2008 12:06AM
About 2 years ago I had arthroscopic surgery on my right shoulder after dislocating it a few times over several years (mostly from whitewater kayaking).  I had torn ligaments in my shoulder which were repaired, and also had ground away some of the bone, but the doctor did not do a bone graft.  Sometimes the shoulder is sore but has not felt unstable like it did before.  Recently I have heard a squeaking sound that randomly occurs.  It does not occur when I am kayaking, but can happen if I move my arm up or do something ordinary.  Has anyone else experience this?  Should I get an MRI on my shoulder?

Hello Dear,
Postoperative symptoms such as painful catching, popping, or “squeaking” may indicate a glenohumeral loose bodyYou should see your orthopedic physician and get an x-ray done to evaluate the cause..
