Health Care System In Our Country

by lynnkay, Jun 24, 2008 05:45AM
I want to briefly explain my health care problems. I have read posts here and there are others like me.My husband lost his long term job in March this year. When he lost that job, we lost our health insurance. It was really good insurance. I have COPD, which is a serious lung disease. I have gotten a number of quotes off the net. Most will not insure me, as I have this lung disease. A pre-existing condition. What companies would cover me, well I was not trusting of them. Sounded too good to be true. So it was buyer beware for me. Even if I could find a good insurance company to cover me, the premiums would be too high for us to afford. I have also called numerous health departments in my area. They could not help me. I have called sliding scale clinics and there are a number of them in Louisville area. They are not taking new patients. I even called University of Louisville. They have sliding scale facilities. They could not help me either. I even called various organizations. Nothing once again. I have made so many calls. All I got was no, no, no. And to be honest much rude attitudes as well. I am having some issues with my COPD. Quite frankly some very serious problems. From my symptoms, my oxygen level is low and there could be congestive heart failure. My husand and me worked all our lives. I paid into this system. The very system that is telling me no. I am outraged, frustrated and other emotions too many to mention. I am going to shoot it point blank, as to how I feel about all this. Many people in this country are in this situation just like me. Too many in my opinion. There are plenty of people that are bleeding our system, that do not deserve the help. Able bodied people, that are just too lazy. They are taking away from people that truly are seriously ill. I feel I should not have to beg like this for medical attention. Tried Medicaid in my state which is Kentucky. We can only make $213. What a joke.
