front crown

by Maria13, Jun 24, 2008 11:26AM
A slight accident knocked out my front crown.   The crown and post was intact.  (I've had a root canal done a long tiime ago)  One dentist said that I could have it re-cement back in.  (x-ray shows that I have enough existing tooth to support the crown and the crown appears to still fit nicely)  Another dentist wants me to have a periodontist cut the gum line and bone to see if the existing tooth has a fracture.  He does not say it is fractured but wants me to have this procedure done to see if it is fractured.  What should I do?  Can't the x-ray alone show a fracture on the remaining tooth?  The crown is temp. cemented in and feels fine.
