Numbness with left side of face and hands

by michelle81, Jun 24, 2008 06:01PM
Hello, I'm concern about my father who is a Diabete ( which is controlled). However, over a month ago he was complaining about his left hand hurting. Then all of a sudden the hand would go numb and go up his arm. As weeks progress his left hand began to swell, and the swelling still is there. My father went to his doctor where the  doctor did x-rays and seem to see that he wanted to operate on my fathers hand because of a nerve. My father then was sent to a specialist who thinks he has carpotunel in his hand. However, my father is having numbness on his left side of his face and it occurs only when his left hand is hurting. What possible can be the problem? Please help me!
