Mystery Illness Turned Bad

by bobad, Jun 25, 2008 10:28AM
Hi,

I have a "mystery diagnosis" for the ages. Please help if you can!

I'm male, 59 and have been sick for 20 years. In 1987, I started having strange symptoms. I started having painful tinging and burning all over my body. I had frequent muscle cramps in my neck and face, and exertion caused my muscles to have a burning pain.  I itch a lot. Although I exercised a lot, my muscles were easy to "pull", and healed slowly. I started having central sleep apnea (breath holding) which went away after a couple of years. Health was excellent otherwise. I suffered through the tingling and burning for 20 years. Nothing helped. Starting a few years back, I began getting PVC's in my heart rhythm. A few weeks ago, the PVC's got really severe, with serious complications. I was diagnosed with "sick sinus syndrome", and a pacemaker was implanted. I guess it saved my life, but I think the disease is still progressing.

Doctors have been baffled for 20 years. I'm thinking I have some sort of neurological disease (or a common disease attacking my nervous system). Whatever attacked my nervous system finally advanced to my heart's electrical system.

Does this sound like any infectious, neurological, or genetic disease you know of? I've now taken 4 lyme disease tests, including one I took just 2 weeks ago. Negative, of course.

Is it possible to have a genetic defect causing lack of resistance to common organisms?

Is it possible that food allergies can damage the nervous system, including the heart's electrical system?

Many, many thanks for your help. I really need it.

Bob. A.
