febrile convulsion

by ixaciyelx, Jun 25, 2008 01:30PM
hello, my son (8m2w) had a febrile convulsion while having a fever about 101°F, so we ran to casualty, they gave the rectal Valium, he was ok for sometime but i decided to get admitted, but again after 11 hrs (fom the first convulsion)  he had his second febrile convulsion, he had a mild fever at that time about not more than 100 °F. and it lasted less than a min, with no jerking of anylimbs, but his lips turned deep blue and stopped breathing

Before a week he had a high fever for about 10 days, i noticed at that time his fever rise to 104 °F but haven't seen any seizures or anything like that.

My question is, is this a sign of a very serious illness, should i go to a neurologist to do a checkup for the baby? because he got two attacks in less than 12 hrs
