It's a ???????????????

Well, I went for my ultrasound today.  Baby waved at us and everything looked ok.  But the hospital we went to will NOT tell us the gender of the baby.  And we couldn't see anything anyway since one of baby's legs was crossed.  I know I have a 2nd ultrasound booked next week but I know for a fact that the other hospital won't tell us either.  So my mom wants to take us to this other place and we can find out for $200.00 and get some pictures.  I feel a bit let down but I am still happy that we could see 2 arms and 2 legs and the spine and the little heart beating!

Has anyone else run into the issue of your doctor not wanting to tell the gender of the baby?

Hope everyone is well!

My goodness---what is the reasoning for not telling you the gender??????

I know back in England a few years ago they wouldnt tell the gender because of people aborting the babies if they were not a boy.

I have heard of doctor's not telling - some just won't b/c it is there preference.  One OB's personal story and reasoning was that he told one family they were having a boy and then when they delivered a girl , they were so upset that they would not even have anything to do with the baby.  He felt so bad and did not want that to happen to any other baby and/or parents so he just quit predicting genders.

The u/s tech told us it is because of abortion issues.  She offered to show us the "area" and let us decide for ourselves but baby was being shy!

You can look online for other peoples ultrasounds and try to get a glimpse for yourself.  If there are 3 lines in the private parts kind of like an equal sign, then its a girl.  I saw the three lines for myself before they even told us.
