Upper Left Thigh Pain

by caramelsmom, Jun 26, 2008 08:07AM
Hi, I've been experiencing upper left thigh pain but only when I sleep on hard surfaces.  For instance I will sleep on my right side and wake up to pain on my left side which seems to be the primary pain area.  If I sleep on both a mattress and a box spring but the box spring is on the floor I'm in pain.  If I sleep on a hard couch I suffer pain (again in left thigh).  Is there a reason for this? Its always the left thigh no matter where I sleep unless its on a soft couch and then the pain is much less, its present but much much less.

Hello Dear,
Since when are you having the pain?Is there any history of injury to the spine? You should see a neurologist and get  the evaluation done.It could be due to nerve compression or entrapment.Unless an examination is done it is difficult to diagnose the disease.

Well I've only discovered this pain since I started sleeping on hard surfaces, it never occurred before I started putting my bed and box spring on the floor (husband's back required it).  I wonder if my weight has anything to do with it since I am obese.  Like I mentioned the pressure is mostly on the left leg and when it occurs I'm not even sleeping on it.

I forgot to mention I have had no injuries.
