I had a partial thyroidectomy do to a nodule ten days ago. I get my stitches out tomorow. I'm coughing constantly, uncontrollably at times,it feels like something is in the way of my throat, has anyone else experienced this? Also I developed this lump mid shoulder around the collar bone a couple of weeks ago, that hasn't gone down since the operation, anybody have any suggestions?

I remember the cough...it was caused by the intubation grazing my trachea. I was also told by the anesthetist that it was coz the handling of that area can cause a kind of bruising and irritation. I had a partial in May 07 and the rest out in Dec 07 so it's all still fresh in my mind! It should settle down soon.
It is early days yet and I am sure that lump you mention will go down. I had a lump on the scar and it was fluid build up around the sutures under the skin. You might have a similar thing but a little further across. If it doesn't go away after 3 weeks, ask your surgeon about it.

geez, I'm not familiar with either symptoms .. definitely address both and have the lump further looked at by the doctor outside of the one who has done the surgery.
