Bladder infection or kidney stones

by rdr811, Jun 26, 2008 08:34PM
Which of the two are consistent with lower back pains moving through the button and down the leg, mainly on the right side?
Note however, that there isn't any burning/pain nor restriction when urinating.

Hi,

Lower back pain on one side that increases on resuming activity after one has been lying down for a while and pain radiating down one lower limb, mainly the inner side of the thigh and the back of the knee has been associated with kidney stones or ureteral stones.

Bladder infection is usually characterized by increased frequency of urination, pain or burning sensation during urination, lower abdominal pain of a dull. cramping type, and some amount of back pain, and blood in the urine.

Given that the pain is on the right side (of the abdomen?) it would be safer to have appendicitis ruled out if you also have fever or vomiting.

If you suspect a kidney stone,
Do increase your intake of fluids to more than 2000 ml per day.

If suspecting an infection, do the above along with increasing vitamin C-rich foods.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
Regards
