Could I have contrated herpes

I was stayin over at a friends place. the friends brother i later found out has herpes. I was using the brothers room as he was out of town for atleast 3 - 4 days before i arrived. I am not aware if the sheets and pillow cover was changed before i used his bed. while i was stayin there he was back for 1 day during which time he used the same bathroom and toilet as i did. I had a shoe bite on my foot and him being a doctor took a look he did not touch the shoe bite but around it. also he offered me a taste of food he was eatin which i tired with a different spoon. the maid in the house washed everybody clothes together i am not entirely sure if mine were washed in the same load as his. after all this i found out he had herpes and had a cold soar on his forhead and nose. is there any way i would have got anything from him. i do not have any symptoms as such no fever no pain .. i caught a cold but tats come even before he came bac into town and i do have allergies i am also pron to get a cold in this city. n the cold clears pretty well once i take my allergy medication. so what shud i be lockin for in term of symptoms and when will they show if i contracted it ??
