Diet for corn and soy allergies

by evag4, Jun 27, 2008 11:05AM
I just had my daughter allergie tests done. She is allergic to corn, soy, tomatoes, nuts and many environmental allergies. She has suffered on and off from stomach nausea and more recently chronic dizziness, migraines. Does the doctor or anyone else have any solutions to food options for us. I had no idea so many foods and beverages contained corn products and soy. If corn, say dextrose, is at the bottom of the ingrediants, how bad is it?

If she is allergic to corn and soy products, then she needs to not consume any corn or soy products. Yes, there are numerous products with 'hidden' corn and soy fillers unfortunately. She needs to avoid these foods too. It is not easy with all our processed foods. You need to read labels and cook food from scratch. You did not state her age. Some children if they are young with these allergies sometimes out grow them. Recommend you see a Registered Dietitian near where you live and review what foods to eat and to avoid. They will help you with custom meal planning, shopping, and eating out. If you do not know a Registered Dietitian, you can go on the American Dietetic Association website, eatright.org and find one to help you.
