When I got on Suboxone on Feb 20, 08, I had the same problem for about 3days. I finally found that I was taking too much. I had to build up to the proper dose. The doctor just said, "start out with 4mg until you feel better". My addictive thinking was, "if he says 4mg, then I need 6mg" So the first day I took 6mg right off the bat and another 2mg within two hours. I was vomitting in about 4 hours, felt horrible the 2nd day and by the 3rd day, I was better.
It just takes time for our bodies to get used to something new. Today is great. I'm productive, I can go to work every day and not think about which "med check" I'm going to go to so I can get more meds. I don't make the never ending phone calls to try and get pills. I don't have to lie about big gaps of time missing. I can play with my kids and not feel pain in my body.
Eventually I will have to get off of the Suboxone, but it's not today. I can only live in today. And today......it's a good day.
Good luck!!
Hang in there, stay on the sub as your doc recommends, and try to take the dose up around 12 mg. In a few days, you'll feel a lot better. Keep us posted!

You make a good point when you say, "Why take the subs in the first place if I'm going to feel this way!" However, realize that the subs do NOT get you high like other opiates, they do NOT make you crave your d.o.c., and perhaps most importantly, there is NO tolerance which builds up in your system ... hence, you don't have to take more - your body doesn't need it. What's more, the medical facts seem to show that the damage done to your brain from full opiates can, indeed, be repaired while using subs. You can find balance, get back to normal, and gradually taper off. If you go to naabt.org you can get some amazing information regarding subs. Good luck, my friend.
sub also has a ceiling effect so necessarily taking more doesnt really effect you the way it does if your taking methadone or any other opiods...sub will only help you so much because of the ceiling effect, BUT having said that, messing with your dose everyday will be of no help to you...my advice is to try a split dose of 4 mgs in the morning and then 4 mgs after dinner and STAY there until your body is adjusted to it (which takes about 5 days) and any withdrawals have passed (7-10 days?)...taking a different dose everyday will never let your body adjust and you will be flip flopping from feeling ok to sick to worse than ok again, and what you take today can still effect what you take for a dose the next day...and if your dose is too low, you will still experience withdrawals...everyone is different with this med...no 2 stories are alike. so get on a dose and stay there for at least 5 days then you will know how you feel and can adjust accordingly...remember i was on 32 mgs of sub when i started and was still EXTREMELY sick...but gave it time to adjust and then was able to taper down accordingly. a lot of it has to do with how much opiods you were taking before you started the sub also....
you will feel different while on sub, what your feeling when you get your dose right should be normalcy with quite a bit of dysphoria (unfortunately), thats what your looking for...but it takes more time to get there if your dose isnt the same everyday, it takes time...it took me almost 6 weeks because i switched from methadone...
it is VERY common to need more sub the first week while you body is ridding itself of your drug of choice...i also found that a split dose worked better than taking it all at once...let your body adjust to a certain amount for that 5 days, then you will be able to see what you need to do if anything at all...
good luck
The Dr wanted me to take 4mgs 4 times a day.. I really think it is to much for me. Yesterday I felt like I had had to much meds.. I slept most of the day, and all thru the night. You know that feeling you get, when you have taken to many pain pills. And the more you take the worse you feel? Thats is how I felt. Almost to the point of vomiting. I understand what you are saying. But with all that is happing to me, wouldn't a lower split dose be better? Then if I start to feel w/d's go up slowly? I feel more confortable doing that, Then getting to much of this med. Because with every dose I take, It makes me feel worse, not beeter! I had said my last dose yesterday was at 1:45pm, I took 2mgs. I was fine this A.M. Until I took 2mgs. About 45mins later I could feel the headache coming on. I eat something. Thinking I would feel better. I more I eat, The worse I feel. I now feel like vomiting... I need to go back to bed. I am thinking of skipping the afternoon dose. Only cause I know I will feel worse. I am thinking of waiting to dose until I feel I need it. I just can not contiune to take something I know will make me feel bad. You know? If I start to feel w/d's can I not then work my dose up, on how I am feeling? Better to little, then to much right? I do not really know much about this drug. The only thing I know for sure, Is that it makes me very sick!!

i think 4 times a day is too often...one dose can hold you for 24 hours?
i would try the split dose, twice a day, stay at one dose for 5 days until your body adjusts, thats typically how long it takes, then you will know where you stand with the dosing...
are you in any aftercare? as you know simply taking a pill to bypass withdrawals doesnt allow for the long term changes that need to be made for long term success...
good luck...
