The band 41 is associated with the flagella of the Lyme bacteria, but it can also be seen with other spirochetes. Many people have a positive 41 without having Lyme.

As for band 43, it doesn't exist on an IGeneX western blot. There are no numbers between 41 and 45 at this lab. Where was your blood tested?

Im sorry, it was Labcorp and the igg was 66 and igm's were 41 and 23. could this mean something else? autoimmune? i do have arm and shoulder soreness , range of motion not good. doc said tendonitis and have knee swelling. i have had tick bite 1994  took doxy twice. then panic anxiety, mvp, skipped heart beats bi-polar and 2 more rashes different from first. also had rash and sickness as child. rash looked like rings and hearts. doc told mother it was from cats. i am worried i have late lyme. i have no lyme doc and dont now where to go.

Hello Scharf,

Bands 23 and 66 are SPECIFIC to the Borrelia bacteria. This is proof you were exposed to Lyme at some point in your life.

If you still have symptoms (and the ones you are mentioning are commonly seen with this disease), you should seek a LLMD (Lyme-Literate doctor) ASAP. If you tell me which state you live in, I can give you the names of some Lyme support groups that will help you find a LLMD near where you live.

You can also post a message on LymeNet.org. There are tons of experienced Lymies on that forum that can provide precious info and support. They have helped me tremendously when I found out I had Lyme disease, last January. I’ve been sick for over 10 years, but am improving with treatment… There is hope!

Good luck!

Dora
