Depression or mood swings -natural tratments?

by marshmallow, Jun 28, 2008 03:34PM
Hi,
I have a hyperactive thyroid which is being treated and recently started pre-menopause with hot flashes. So now the newest thing is that I feel sad, cry for no reason and only want to sleep all the time. I don't want to talk to epople and if someone asks me to do something I feel like I am immediately stressed by their request. Oh, I stopped smoking 5 weeks ago. Appetite is good and sleeping is good except when I wake up all hot and sweaty and in the early hours of the morning I am hot and sweaty too.
Oh, I also noticed this happens at the end of the month for the past 2 months, when I would have had my period. Now instead I wake up all hot and sweaty. I"ll stay in bed for another 1-2 hours but te entire time I am still hot and sweaty.
then for aobut 2 weeks I"m ok until this starts again (the hot and sweaty)

Any ideas if the smoking or the menopause would do this sadness and depression though? My doctor says I am not depressed. He says hang in there. this is mood swings from the menopause.
Any natural things that I could possibly take I really don't like this feeling of wanting to cry all the time or to hide from people or to sleep.
I took an on line depression questionnaire and it said mild to borderline depression.
Thanks everyone!
