Hi, the same thing happened to my ten month old son a couple of months ago.As soon as his fever broke he developed a rash all over his belly yet he was acting like his normal self. I did some research on the web and called my doctor because I suspected he had Roseola. His doctor confirmed it. There was nothing I could do about it or give him but tylenol. His doctor said that it is pretty common. I would do some research on it and see if this may be the case for your son. i hope this helps.

thank you so much  I was just reading up on roseola, and it fits him perfect.. i just wonder why his strep test was positive.. oh well I'm gonna watch him real good and call the doctor monday..
thanks for responding..
i love this web site..

How long did your sons rash last??

Hmm thats a good question about the strep test. They said it was a slight positive right? Maybe it was just slightly abnormal but he doesn't actuslly have strep. I used to get strep all the time and that makes you very very sick, so if he seems to be acting like himself, I doubt it is strep but im not a doctor so I really cannot say. My son's rash lasted about 2 days, then it was gone. I did put some hydrocortizone cream on his rash which seemed to help. It seemed to bother me more than it did my son.He was laughing and his happy self as usual. I know it's so hard not to worry when your child is sick but I'm sure he will be just fine. Call his doctor on Monday though just to be safe and for piece of mind. I know I love this website too, its nice to talk to other moms and ask questions. I hope your little one gets better soon!!

hopefulmommie is right. my two sons had it at the same time and it scared the heck out of me because I ran to the ER and no one knew what it was but knew it was viral. their fevers were really high and the rash looked like tiny red dots everywhere. I gave them oatmeal baths to help with the rash and I gave them what the hospital told me to do which was tylenol and motrin at the same time and then from there to alternate the medicines and that helped break the fever. I kept having to throw them in cold wate baths to bring it down before they taught me that trick. I also used be cool gel pads on their  forehead that stick on so you dont have to keep getting a cold rag. I found these in walgreens. anyway, i took them to the peditriian and she said that they had roseola thing and that it usually affects children 5 and under. in a week it was gone.

My daughter had strep 3 times this winter- strep rash with it EVERY time.  Usually went away within a week of being on antiboitics. I hope that they put him on antibiotics since it came back slightly positive because as her ped. said, positive is positive not matter how dark of pink.  (Kinda like a pregnancy test- your ine can be faint or bright and either way, you are preggo!!!)  LOL!  Good luck!

lots of kids get a rash with strep. or it could've been roseola and strep. There are also many other cildhood illnesses that start with a fever and end with a rash. call the ped and mention the rash- chances are they won't need to see him, but you never know. glad he's feeling better!

i bet its roseola also. there was a case of that going around my son's daycare. i heard that once the fever breaks and the rash develops, they are no longer contagious. sorry your little one is going through it, hope he feels better soon!
