what are the dos and don'ts of living with syringomyelia? Is it hereditory?

Hi there.

Syringomyelia may lie dormant for a long time but if indeed manifests with the different symptoms (pain, weakness, etc), care should be taken in terms of activities that may intensify the pain or any other symptoms (such as strenuous, weight-lifting activities).  It is still a big question if this is inherited but common causes would includes previous spinal cord injury or developmental problems.
