Please answer this.

I recently found out that I was pregnant. I found out very early in my pregnancy, I am only 2.5 weeks. I went to the doctor on Thursday because I was bleeding like a normal period.. no cramps or anything... they took my blood and my HCG count was at 860 already. 2.5 weeks pregnant. They told me to come back in two days so I went in this morning and my HCG count was at 840. I already think that my HCG is high for 2.5 weeks pregnant. The doctor told me that he "thinks" this could be a miscarriage but then again it's so early to detect anything. Does anyone have an experience like this? How did things work out?

When was the 1st day of your last missed period?

I haven't missed a period yet. But my last period was around the 8th of June.

Oops!  That is what I meant ;)  Well, you did find out VERY early!  I am going to be 5 weeks tomorrow and when my levels were tested at 4 weeks 2 days, they were at 423!  So, yours seem really high for only 2.5 weeks.  

My last miscarriage (in March) I too found out I was pregnant VERY early!  I think I got a positive at 3 weeks.  So, I would assume my levels were pretty high initially.  Unfortunately, I did miscarry at 6 weeks 4 days, with spotting beginning around 5 weeks.  So, I don't know if my experience will be yours, but with your levels decreasing... it doesn't seem right.  When are they going to test your level again?

well i follow up with my ob/gyn this week so hopefully she can help me understand what is going on! i don't know what to expect. for some reason with an hcg that high for me, it must be twins!!!

it is usually not a good sign when your levels drop.  you always want them to rise.  i would wait til you go back to the doctors again.

there is always the chance of twins and losing one since your level was really high.  there is also chance of eptopic preg.  have you had any bleeding or spotting or cramping?

yes, i have had spotting and then bleeding but no cramping. they said i would be in a lot more pain if it was eptopic. i took another test today and it is still coming back positive.. i meet with my ob/gyn wednesday so hopefully she can let me know something.

Keep us up to date. Personally I would request an ultrasound, just to rule out ectopic, but they may be holding off because you are so early that it may be hard to tell. Usually around 5-6 weeks is the best time for your first u/s.

i will see how things go when i go in on wednesday.. as of now i'm on bed rest and just need to get a lot of rest. but i'm sure they will try to do an ultrasound but more than likely not guaranteed to see anything.
