Stomatitis after oral sex... Flummoxed!

by zkhab, Jun 29, 2008 07:42AM
Hi all, I am a 22 year old working as an expat in Indonesia. I try to be quite cautious here with sex, however the other week had a bit of a slip up.

Just over a week ago I met a girl in a pub and subsequently ended up having sex with her. She was 19, very pretty, and didn't seem like someone likely to be carrying anything nasty.. woops..

We had two sexual encounters, first time unprotected oral & vaginal. Second time unprotected oral & protected vaginal. A day or two after the last encounter (about 6 days ago), I developed a burning sensation on my tongue. Within another day very small (almost invisible), yet VERY painfull ulcers developed on the tip of my tongue. After about three days they were all over my tongue, yet the biggest ones (still quite small), and most painful ones, on the sides of my tongue. None of them are over 2millimetres in diameter, they develop to a yellowish (pus) colour, and have the shape of a pimple. It has now been nearly a week and it shows no sign of improvement..

I have been examining all over and havnt developed any other symptoms as yet, no fever, cold or flu like symptoms. Just about 10-15 very painful pimples on my tongue, that developed straight after performing oral sex.. Nothing I have read on any STD's seems to match these symptoms, yet they absolutley came about as a result of the oral sex... Anybody got any ideas?

The timing might coincide with oral, but nothing else does.

You could be having a reaction to something new like food, toothpaste, something in the water, etc.

You really need to be seen by a doctor.

Yeah I have been to the doctors, but it needs to be understood that doctors where I live simply aren't very good, the woman told me I had stomatitis of some kind (pretty vague from a doctor), this was not news to me..

Anyway I took tests for everything as I do once in a while simply to be safe..

Still confused as to whats going on in my tongue though..

Thanks

Well, from a quick google of stomatitis, I got quite the list of possible causes.  It could be viral, a lack of iron, an allergic reaction, a bacterial infection, etc etc.

Here is an article I found - http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec08/ch089/ch089g.html

I wish I could offer you more help.  You might try posting in the dental forum for more help.
