The exact nature of the tumor is not known.Certain tumors will not be responsive to chemotherapy, which is probably why it has not been offered as an option.
Amputation must have been considered probably due to the extent of the spread of the tumor.
The sursery will be performed first to try and get out as much of the mass out as possible.In fact the radiation prior to it is to cause it to shrink, to facilitate easy removal.
So hope and pray for the best and that she will respond well to the surgery and radiotherapy.
