Hormone disorders

by L5026, Jun 30, 2008 02:30AM
I know, facial hair is a problem that many women have. However I feel I have an abnormal ammount and am worried that it wil continue to grow. I started my cycles over a year ago now and still they are late and very irregular. I have problem skin (e.g. Minor Acne) and am often tired and grumpy. I also find that on my upper lip, I have a lot of facial hair. It is fairly fine hair at the moment, but there is a lot of it and it seems long and thick, and would be dark if I didnt bleach regularly. It is very much like a real moustache, which is extremely depressing at my age. I never used to be hairy and only in the last 4 months or so have I had this problem with facial hair. As yet it is only on my upper lip but I am worried I will get more. I think I may have a hormone deficiency, or something like polycystic ovaries.
Please help! It is very upsetting. What is my problem? How can I go about diagnosing/treating it? I am worried a doctor won't take me seriously.

It sounds like your testosterone level may be high. I would have your doctor do a saliva hormone test, they are more acurate than blood test.
