Continuous Itching

by Iridium, Jun 30, 2008 03:23AM
I have a problem of Continuous Itching on my whole body, specially on my back.
It generally happens when I am in a slight cool atmosphere. If I Cover the area and keep it warm then i get some relief. But it again starts as soon as i remove the cover.

I get relief from Anti-Allergy pills also but i don't want to get addicted to them.

Please Help.

Hi, This is called a physical allergy. Some people have allergy-like reactions to hot or cold temperatures, sunlight, or other physical stimuli. Sometimes, friction (rubbing or vigorously stroking the skin) will cause symptoms.
Allergy is caused by an oversensitive immune system, which leads to a misdirected immune response. The immune system normally protects the body against harmful substances, such as bacteria and viruses. In this condition the body reacts to a non-protein stimulus and eexpresses an allergic reaction.
Dry skin, which worsens in cold conditions can also contribute to the itching. So you need to keep your skin well moisturized.
Anti-histamines are the only choice of drugs but yoy can apply Calamine lotion or eucalyptys oil to relieve the itchy feeling.

Thanks for your advise.

Is it safe to take Anti-histamines regularly?? Do they have any Side Effect?? Because applying any lotion all over my body is not very practical.
