Chronic Stomach Pain and Vomitting

by oscarfuentes77, Jun 30, 2008 11:26AM
I am a 20 year old male, 6'1", 195 lbs. If someone were to look at me I think their estimation would be that I am quite healthy, and a large portion of the time I do feel healthy.

From the age of 8 or 9 I have been experiencing nausea in the mornings from the time I wake up until around 11 a.m. At first this was an infrequent occurrance, but it quickly escalated in frequency. For the better part of five years I have been "dry-heaving" to the point of vommitting not every other morning, but EVERY MORNING. It is simply something I have become accustomed to. At this point in my life it is part of my daily routine to wake up early to allow for sufficient time to get sick and recover. As you can imagine I haven't eaten breakfast in a long time (I'd honestly say its been a decade).

So six months ago I got married and the problems I've been dealing with somewhat privately became much more public. My wife gets up early to make sure I don't "die on the bathroom floor" (to use her words). She hassled me so much about it that I went to the doctor and told him nearly exactly what I wrote in the above paragraph. His response was that I should quit smoking (I told him I smoke socially, no more than 3 cigarettes a week max) and that I need to lose 30 lbs. I actually thought I looked pretty good until I found out I was "30 lbs. overweight." haha. I had seen a doctor the year before that told me I "might have stomach cancer." Thanks doc.

To make a long story short, I suppose its hard to convince somebody that you've been putting up with a problem like this for so long. To put it simply, I'm not too keen on seeing a doctor and I don't like beeing made out to be a liar. The doctor I saw said "there's no way you've been as sick as you describe for as long as you've described. It just doesn't make sense that somebody of your socioeconomic status hasn't seen a specialist yet." He was a tad judgemental if I do say so myself.

Fast forward five months and I'm still sick to my stomach and have been EVERY DAY since my doctor's visit. In fact, I've lost 12 lbs. and cut cigarettes out completely. I am only writing this because I had an especially bad time this morning and am fed up. There has got to be something or someone for me, because the way I feel isn't right. I am open to natural means to settle my stomach (I've been drinking tea every day for the past few months to no avail). If I can get away from it I'd rather not take any pharmaceuticals, but will do whatever.

I guess the point of this post and my underlying question is what should I do? Should I see another doctor, try some "miracle cure," visit a witchdoctor? Is there anybody else reading this that understands my stomach problem? I could have saved 200 dollars and skipped the doctor and x-rays last time and just made myself feel bad at home. Maybe there's a certain kind of specialist I should see about this? I live in the boondocks, but I'm ready to travel wherever to get this fixed.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate any comments to my post. Have a great day.
