drinking and liver pain

by mamakat43, Jun 30, 2008 11:46AM
To: Dr. D...
I was treated for HepC in 2004 and have had SVR since then.  When I have a couple glasses of wine, I get a side ache.  I never had a biopsy, but my Dr. Dr. Tong said no liver damage.  Could I have cirrhosis?

Sounds like alcohol is not your friend.  Have you considered that it might be wise to stop drinking altogether?

I wouldn't think it could cause pain I would think it's completely unrelated to the matter - however as you have had hepC perhaps you should just ditch the drinking and make sure you save your life...if it hurts that much it doesn't seem to make sense to do it to me.

I would ask your doctor, while the drinking wine may be related, it sounds like it very well be something else your body is telling you.  I am not a doctor, there are other things that could be going on.  I would discuss with your doctor and have appropriate tests before thinking it is your liver.
