Exfoliation and possible damage to skin, pores

by SME800, Jun 30, 2008 11:48AM
I know that over-exfoliation can trigger rosacea.  Are there other types of damage that over-exfoliation can cause to the skin as well, whether by itself or in conjuntion with rosacea?  In particular, can over-exfoliation damage pores and, if so, what would be the signs?  Any advice on treatments someone with skin damaged by over-exfoliation should consider, whether over-the-counter, prescribed, or surgical?

I don't believe you are correct to say that over-exfoliation can cause rosacea, or any other kind of permanent skin damage, to pores or otherwise.  The most it can do would be to cause peeling and dryness, but these would go away as soon as the skin is treated more gently.  Mild soap and bland moisturizer would be my recommendation.

Take care.
