If your partner is not infected with HIV, then you can't get it from that person.

No, HIV does NOT exhibit symptoms instantly - no std does.

And that leads me to the condom discussion.  If you are having unprotected sex, you are at risk for all stds, and should be tested.  Unless someone has tested since their last partner, you don't know for sure that someone is not infected with an std.  A lot of the time, people won't get symptoms for stds, so you can't tell by looking.

what are the symptoms of std's Im afraid cause ive engage sex in my 12th age im now 20 years old

Discharge, itching, sores, bumps, pain with urination, bleeding after sex or in between periods, etc.  You can have some of these, or none of these, and still have an std.

If you've never been tested, you should be.  Its very important.

Are you saying you have been engaging in sex since the age of 12 ? if so why has it taken 8yrs for you to start worrying about STD's and HIV ?

Forgive me if i have misunderstood your post

I wouldn't have worried about stds at 12.  I'm not even sure I knew about them then, and when you are young, you never think anything will happen to you.

what will be checked if you will undergo HIV test?

by auntiejessi, Jul 06, 2008 09:45AM
If you just do an HIV test, then you will only be tested for HIV.  That will not test for any other stds.

Are you in the US?  If you are, you should go to a Planned Parenthood and get tested.  They know what to test for there, and if you tell them you've never been tested, they will explain everything.

Oh ok.  No Planned Parenthoods there.  You can just see your regular doctor for testing.
