Cystic Lesion on adnexa

Hi-

Had an ultra-sound, abdominal and pelvic.  Dicovered 15.6x10.9x14.4cm, "large complex cystic lesion with internal septations noted in the left adnexa?

Where exactly is that?  Also, had a CA 125 done with a result of 24, which they tell me is good, however, it is my understanding that this mass could still be cancerous,  is that correct?

I can not see a doctor until 07-02-08, so of course the mind wanders, and not pretty thoughts are emerging.  Could you please answer a few of these questions for me.

The left adenexa is referring to the lower left quadrand of your abdomen.  It is said that a CA125 under 35 is in the normal range.  As far as this being cancer.....there is no way to know without a biopsy being sent to pathology.  Is your appointment on July 2nd with a gyn/oncologist?   You need a gyn/oncologist for your surgeon....YOU HAVE ONLLY ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.....make certain you have the correct specialist at your side during surgery.....a gyn/oncologist.
Please do keep us posted....the 2nd will get here before you know it.  It is always wise to take  someone along with you to hear what is said.....it is easy to get things mixed up.

Hey there...I just went through exactly what you have...two very large bilateral adnexal cysts, with septations (which makes them a bit worrisome).  Septation just means they are divided.  I am three days postop from a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and am doing fine, starting on hormone replacement therapy.  I completely agree with Dian, the most important thing is see a gynecologic surgeon and make him/her explain everything to you so you understand what to expect.  It is most likely just something that needs to come out..the worry is the worse part, but you will be okay!!
