multiple blood-filled cysts

by DJ0, Jun 30, 2008 02:04PM
Hi Dr. Goodman. I am a 61 yr. old post-menopausal (13 yrs. ago), who had a hysterectomy 31 yrs ago,
but my ovaries and fallopion tubes were not removed. I have been recently diagnosed, by MRI and CT scan
w/ and w/o contrast to have a (1) left paraspinus (T3 and T4) cyst (bronchgenic/foregut duplication ?) that is in contact woth my desending Aortic Arch and and a posterior portion of my esphogus; (2) left breast cysts (1 large, 5 small) tha were U/S guided fine needle aspirated and proved to be blood-filled (no cell examination was performed or sent to pathology); (3) multiple left kidney cysts scheduled for U/S in a few days; and (4) a re-occurring left ovarian cyst that ruptured a month ago (blood-filled) and is filling up again. I am scheduled for a lap. salpingo-oopherectomy w/ biopsy in 3 weeks.
Could these cysts be related to each other or be edometriosis? Could I have other simular cysts in other areas (like my brain?  Hysterectomy was due to PID related to 'child-birth fever' not endometriosis. How concerned should I be that if these blood-filled cysts rupture I could bleed to death? What should be done other than what is scheduled? Thanks,  DJ0

Hi There,
they sure could be endometriomas. It sounds like you have a good plan to surgically remove them,.
best wishes
