Stretch Marks???

by FEOT, Jun 30, 2008 02:57PM
I had a quick question...Im almost 21 weeks and i havent seen any signs of stretch marks (i hope i dont). My question is if you get stretch marks when will they appear? If any of you got stretch marks around when were they visable?

I didn't really notice any stretch marks with my first until about the last two months of pregnancy. Mine are really quite awful too. It must have been the coming into the home stretch that seemed to push everything to capacity. I only gained like 30 lbs maybe less with my first so, it wasn't like I gained alot of weight either. Hubby and I have talked about getting a tummy tuck when I am done having children because my doc and a plastic surgeon has told me that the only way I can get rid of this extra tube is to do a tummy tuck due to the stretching being so bad. My stretch marks around my bikini line are about 2 inches wide and still very visible after almost 10 years.

I am 28 weeks and don't have any yet, but I am expecting them to come any time now... I have small stretch marks on my sides from my teenage years so I know I'm prone to get them. I'm amazed I haven't gotten them on my belly yet. I use a TON of cocoa butter lotion & oil every morning and after every shower/bath (and let it air dry), which they say doesnt do anything but I think it does. I feel like it'll at least make the marks a little bit less bad if/when they do appear, maybe?! Plus my hubby loves to put the lotion on me so that's a plus. ;) I would suggest trying some... at least you'll know you did everything you could to prevent them!

i got mine at about 20 weeks and they have just gotten worse as the pregnancy has continued (i'm now 31w 5d). i have rubed everything you can think of onto my belly and nothing has worked. i always know when i'm going to get more or when they are going to get worse because my belly gets so itchy. the way i see it is it's all a part of pregnancy and i know my baby is just getting bigger and bigger and bigger! lol

i am COVERED in stretch marks, all from my fist pregnancy. i gained over 60 pounds and i started getting them when i was about 6-7 months. i havent noticed any new ones with this pregnancy... but it would probably be hard to notice since they are everywhere. i got them on my boobs, my tummy, my upper legs, behind my knees on my upper arms and on my sides (i also have some nice love handles to go with them) it looks like i was mauled my a lion or something! LOL

I had none until the last month of the pregnancy.  I remember it like it was yesterday.  It started by seeing a very small one on my left side.  I pointed at it and ran to my fiance.  I cried so hard and said "nooooooo", he of course like a typical man says "what, I don't see anything".  After that, it seemed they were all over.  I didn't get really bad ones.  They stayed skin colored but after the baby I am able to see them now and they left me all stretched out.  I lotioned myself every day, it has nothing to do with it.  I think it's more genetics.  If you get them then there is no way of preventing them, if you don't get them consider yourself extremely lucky.

I do use Cocoa Butter lotion every morning after i shower. I have little tiny ones on my sides from my teenage years as well. I mean tiny you cant even see them unless you get super close and i show you were. I mean they are not really visible. Yeah i have heard the same thing that it wont work but then why do they sell cocoa butter that says helps prevent stretch marks?? I dont know but like you said at least we try to prevent.

I gained 56 lbs with my first son and never got any stretch marks, except for a few very small hardly noticable ones on my breasts and hips..........none on my belly thank goodness:)  I am now 35w5d with my second and still no stretch marks on my belly so I think I will make it once again.  Up to this point I have gained about 30 lbs so I am doing better than my first, lol.  I think everyone is different and you may not get any:)

i didn't get any stretch marks till i was about 25 weeks...but i'm having twins so my tummy has tripled in size from what it normally is. and even with the ones i have their only on the lower half of my tummy and not that bad at all. i've been using palmers stretch mark cream throughout my entire pregnancy so i think that has helped a bunch.

I am 37 weeks and just today I noticed few small ones on my lower belly and some on my hips.

I used palmers lotion and vitamin e oil 3 times a day every day during my pregnancy and it didn't help me at all. I didn't get any stretch marks until like the last month of pregnancy and they were horrible and all of my stomach and bright red. I looked like I got into a fight with a cat or something. I only gained 35 lbs after I had my baby though they started disappearing and now you can't even see them if I take off my shirt. I have a friend who didn't get any stretch marks until 4 days before her due date and another friend who strangely enough didn't get any until after she delivered. You can get them at any time and all those lotions only help to her the skin moisturized so that its easier on your skin when it stretches but it doesn't make you not get stretch marks since they are genetic.
