Unexplained Spotting

by kceja1218, Jun 30, 2008 03:12PM
Ok so here is my situation; I had my period on the 13th of June and it ended about the 17th. I had sex on that Sunday which was the 22nd.When we were done I noticed that there was a little bit of pinkish blood. I didn't think anything of it until the next two days I started spotting light pinkish blood. At first I thought I might have started ovulating until I noticed how much my lower back & abdomen had been hurting. My feet also swell up when I wear heals. We had sex again yesterday the 29th and again there was that light pinkish blood, but so far I have not continued to spot. So I took a pregnancy test however it was negative. Can anyone please give some kind of idea as to what is wrong with me?

Hi there. You need to take another pregnancy test on Sunday; pregnancy can't usually be detected by these tests until at least 2 weeks after having penis-vagina sex. Are you on birth control pills or some other contraceptive? If so, spotting is a common side effect. And bloating is common as well. If you're not pregnant, and these symptoms continue to trouble you, see your gynecologist to discuss options. Dr. J

No I'm not on birth control pills or any other contraceptive. So you think those are all a sign of pregnancy? I just can't think of when I became pregnant if I am.

Yes, these are signs of possible pregnancy. And did you know that you can become pregnant within 5-7 days after your period because sperm can live in your body for up to six or seven days? If you're having p-v sex without using any birth control or conctraceptives, you're putting yourself at risk for pregnancy, not to mention STDs/STIs. Do you really want to become pregnant? If not, check out the various contraceptive methods available to you and experiment until you find the one that works best for your own unique physiology. Remember that one size doesn't fit all and that sometimes you have to try several different methods before you find one that fits your personality, budget and physical needs. Dr. J
