This forum is an un-mediated, patient-to-patient forum for questions and support regarding herpes issues such as:
Herpes symptoms and treatments, causes, diagnosis, and herpes in men, tests, telling your spouse or partner.
I actually asked a doctor about it a few years ago when it was less pronounced. He just shrugged like it was nothing important. So I figured that too. But lately, it is more constant. it has a lighter color than the surrounding skin, and is slightly raised.
Just wondered if I should see an std specialist or family practitioner. When I can afford it. No ins at the moment.
If its bothering you enough to make you come to this forum Drex, its well owrth the piece of mind to get a blood test. I only paid around $150 for the type I and II igG test which will accurately tell you if you have it or not (it's accurate at 4 months, you've been 20 years :P) and put your mind at ease.
Although Slacker is right, most likely its not herpes and you shouldn't worry about it, but if you're sexually active you have a 1/4 chance of having it so its not necessarily a BAD idea to get one, especially since odds are it's going to be negative and you'll feel better.
