I would defiantly sign it, but the pharmaceutical industry is making so much money right now off of prescription meds I am sure the quantity of theses types of advertisements will only increase over time.

I agree that there are WAY too many...but they have their purpose like anything else.
It wouldn't be TOO bad if it were just a few here and there...but the TV is over-run with them! LOL...a lot of the docs I work with would sign your petition as well...as they have all said they are tired of their ptsPost-traumatic stress disorder coming in and saying..."My TV told me to ask you about 'MEDS X, Y and Z'...I think I need them." LOL

yeah but you know the doctors get paid from the pharmaceutial campanies for passing on their product.. for example..
my doctor got me started on Zoloft (free samples) until zoloft became patened, then they could no longer give out free samples.. thats why for a one month supply its 100.00.. So the doctor gets you hooked, then you have to pay.. And you don't think the doctors don't get something out of that..
it's a greedy world and not all doctors became doctors to help ppl.. they just wanted the money..
just my opion I could be completey wrong..

And by the time they get done rattling off all of the required information relative to warnings and side effects, you have no idea what they've even said they go so fast. Or it's in print so tiny at the bottom of the screen that the ad is over before you can even focus on it...and if you do, you will pick up only the scariest tiny bit of information, not nearly enough to give you any real information.

I'll sign it.

If it werent for all the warnings I see EVERYWHERE about heart attacks, strokes, etc, I would probably be ok with all the funny things my body does. Come to think of it, the only reason my fast heart rate ever bothers me is because it makes me think my blood pressure is up, or that my heart is being damaged by beating too fast...otherwise, it doesnt cause me any problems!
So, yeah--I'm with ya on these commercials..too much info!

I often wonder if the makers of certain medicines create their own illness so they can label weak unsuspecting people like those with anxiety and in turn make millions off of them. If anxiety can convince our brains that we are having such serious issues such as a heart attack, then it could also convince us that a certain medication is curing us of it.
Just a thought....

Actually...I get a HUGE kick out of the newer Smoking Cessation commercials (Product is called "EX" I think?)...where it shows people doing things w/out a cig? The guy in the coffee shop squirting creamers on his face b/c he doesn't know "how" to drink it without a cig? There are a whole bunch of those...and they crack me up. Being a smoker myself....it couldn't be closer to the truth!!!!!
Anyway....great topic!
And you still have to go see a doctor that has to diagnose you with something before you can try any of those medications, it's not like you could just go to Walgreens and buy them off the shelf...so the parmaceutical companies aren't really making money from the consumer since it's the doctor's decision what to prescribe.
But...on the other hand, I hate all tv commercials anyway. If I want to buy something I will buy it on my own without the interruption into a program I am watching...so pass the petition on...I'll sign it!!
