Excessive sweating while exercising

by cc9009, Jun 30, 2008 09:58PM
as a type 1, i try to stay in shape. with long bikes rides on hot days, i sweat profussly.  although i check my glucose levels often, i am concerned about the amount of salt & electrolytes i am losing.  is gaterade (with no sugar) the answer, or should i be taking a salt pill supplement?

Gatorade is great! But you can supplement with salt pills if you feel the need. It really depends on how you feel.

If you feel dehydrated but blood sugars are normal then you are probably losing electrolytes.

Do you drink fluids before, during and after exercise? Taking small sips throughout your workout can help prevent severe dehydration. Also after every workout make sure to replenish lost fluids immediately.
