no fetus though I am in the 7th gestational week

I went to the doctor on the 7th week of pregnacy. He made a scan and found I was 5w2d .
But though he found sac he found no fetus. I am very sad.Anyone can tellme something optimistic?

Maybe you are not as far along as you thought you were..

It is possible that you ovulated late.

Get another scan in a week or so, and see if the pregnancy continues developing at the correct rate.

Your dates may be off.  Where are you getting the 7 wks from ?? Is that based on your LMP?  You could have easily ovulated later or fertilization occured later than it normally would have after ovulation.  Your doc should have scheduled you for a repeate ultrasound in another week or two.  If he/she hasn't I would insist on one.  I would also make sure your doctor is monitoring your HCG levels every few days to ensure they are doubling.  If the pregnancy itself is only approx 5 weeks along it would be too early to detect a fetal pole or heart beat or even a yolk sac.

wait another week.  are your periods regular?  you may have ovulated later.  it is okay not to see much at 5 weeks.
