cervial mucus

Cervical mucus like the strechy kind is suppose to last for 2-3 days right? because I checked mine like an hour after sex (which I know you shouldn't check it then, but it did) and it was stretchy but by the next morning it stopped, does this mean that is was not the fertial mucus? I shouldn't even get that kind of mucus because I'm on birth control but I am parinoid, and now I am afraid that it didn't work.
