chronic radiculopathy, no answers...

by 1msmoni, Jul 01, 2008 09:13PM
On Sept. 23, 2003, I was at work and attempted to reach for a 30lb. case of water. I was unable to sustain the weight and the weight of the case suddenly pulled me over and a sharp pain hit me in my left buttocks. I went to my primary physician and was diagnosed with a lumbar sprain. After 3 days the pain was worse. 2 weeks later I began seeing an orthopedic surgeon. I had one series of steroid injections. Had CT Myleogram, bone scan, MRI and none of them revealed anything. By this time, March 2004, I was deemed 0% impairment rating and left for dead. The pain continued. I walked with a cane for 18 months, due to the severe radicular pain.

In Nov. 2004, I was sent to a psychiatrist for an evaluation. I was diagnosed with severe clinical depression. In 2005 I was put in a rehabilitation program. I received med. monitoring for Remeron, psychotherapy and 30 sessions of physical therapy. It helped very much but the pain was unrelenting. By the summer of 2005 I retained the services of an attorney. June 29, 2005, I had a disco gram conducted which finally revealed an annular tear at L5-S1 and a compressed disc at L4 disc. In Jan 2006, I received a 7% impairment rating. On May 31, 2006, as I was prepared to go into a CCH, the opposing counsel offered to accept my injury as a compensable injury and provide me with medical care for the rest of my life, if I would accept half of the retro benefits owed to me for the past 2.5 years. I begrudgingly accepted. With the ignorant understanding I could finally receive the correct medical care a faulty and deceptive peer review was conducted and he doctor stated I already had surgery and therefore needs no further medical care. The insurance company knows this is false and hollered at me and told me they don't owe me anything more and no further treatments were approved.

My treating doctor at the time was a chiropractic doctor and could not sign off on any off the refuting documents. I later found out they knew this and my attorney knew it too and failed to tell me. Well, after all of this I have tried numerous times to find a quality doctor and have had the most indescribable time in hell! From incompetent, inebriated, to out-right evil people that continue to leave me for dead. I still battle with depression, anxiety, severe pain in back and left leg. I stumble and loose my footing. I've almost lost my home, marriage and life many, many times. Honestly I have wanted to give up and die many days. But I have 3 yound daughters I still owe them a mother. But I sometimes fail to be me. I have not worked since 2003 and it has left me feeling less than human. Yes, I was deemed disabled by Social Security in 2004, but that's not what I want. I want to live again, not just exist. So, if there is anything available for me please, please help me. I was a young, vibrant, healthy 35 year old when this happened. Today I am 40 and I feel like a broken down, worthless, helpless 70 year old. Thank you.
